About Me

Ever since I was a little kid I have been obsessed with understanding human behaviors. When I was 6 years old I watched a 20/20 ABC News program that profiled a woman with hoarding disorder. I was absolutely entranced by this show and deeply wanted to understand this type of abnormal psychological behavior. What would cause someone to behave that way? Therein began a lifelong fascination with understanding human behaviors that lead me to study psychology.

It was in my Masters program that I took my first course in qualitative research and fell in love with the storytelling that this type of research provides. I knew I loved asking questions and getting people to open up from my work as a student-therapist, and the interviewing aspect of qualitative research quickly became my favorite type of work to do. I then completed a qualitative case study for my graduate thesis project and immersed myself in volunteer research projects with non-profits in Portland where I interviewed individuals to help organizations gain insights to better serve their clientele.

My love for qualitative research is what lead me to the field of User Experience Design. I found UX to be a perfect fit for my research experience, my fascination with understanding human behavior, and passion for working with people. Please reach out to me if you’d like to hear more details about my transition to UX or have any other questions about my background!
